Department Elements

Department Elements define individual organizational departments within your property and estate management structure, supporting departmental cost tracking and reporting. Create Department Elements with unique codes and descriptions (for example, "MAINT" for Maintenance Department, "HSKEEP" for Housekeeping, "SECURITY" for Security Services, "ADMIN" for Administration) to represent each functional department across your organization. These elements can be linked to Department Groups for hierarchical organization and associated with financial transactions, tasks, and resources to track departmental activity. This enables departmental cost analysis (track all expenses attributed to the Maintenance Department), supports charge-back reporting (allocate costs to appropriate departments), and facilitates budget management (monitor department-specific spending against allocated budgets). Organizations typically define elements matching their chart of accounts structure and organizational hierarchy, ensuring all operational costs and activities are correctly attributed to responsible departments for financial accountability and management reporting.

The Purchase Key licence dependency for this specific element of the system has been removed and is now included as standard in the core MRI Evolution product the feature has been turned on for all systems by default.
