Areas

Areas link together many Locations for filtering and reporting purposes. They are in hierarchical structure with Area Types as the top level of the hierarchy.

They can also be associated with PMS Core Values for use in PayMech calculations.

The Purchase Key licence dependency for this specific element of the system has been removed and is now included as standard in the core MRI Evolution product the feature has been turned on for all systems by default.

Note: Other restrictions, such as User licence type restrictions and / or any restrictions to underlying functionality that is dependent upon Purchase Key licences will remain in place.

Facilities > Property and Estates > Areas

The link will open the Areas grid. It is a grid view which can be searched, sorted and customised as normal.

To add a new Area click New , to edit an existing Area click Edit . A pop up window will appear which will allow the creation or amendment of an Area.

Field Name	Description
Name	The Area name.
Description	The Area description.
Type	From the drop down select the Area Type - for more information see Area Types
Net Usable Space	The usable space for the Area.
Total Location Usable Space	Auto-calculated with the Total Usable Space of all Locations within the Area.
Latitude	North-south geographic coordinate for this area in decimal degrees format (e.g., 51.5074 for London, -33.8688 for Sydney). Used for mapping areas on geographic information systems (GIS), enabling spatial analysis, proximity searches, and integration with mapping applications. Positive values indicate northern hemisphere, negative for southern hemisphere. Essential for route planning, calculating distances between areas, and visualizing property portfolios on maps. Can be captured via mobile GPS when surveying areas in the field.
Longitude	East-west geographic coordinate for this area in decimal degrees format (e.g., -0.1278 for London, 151.2093 for Sydney). Used with Latitude to pinpoint the area's exact location on Earth. Positive values indicate eastern hemisphere, negative for western hemisphere. Critical for GIS integration, map visualization, and location-based services. Together with Latitude, enables accurate positioning for emergency response, mobile workforce navigation, and geographic reporting. Should be captured to the same precision level as Latitude for consistency.
Elevation	Height above sea level or ground level reference point in meters or feet (e.g., "12.5m above sea level", "Ground floor", "-2m basement"). Important for 3D spatial modeling, understanding access requirements for maintenance equipment, flood risk assessment, and planning work at height. May indicate floor level within a building or terrain height for outdoor areas. Helps identify areas requiring special access equipment (e.g., scissor lifts, scaffolding) and supports health and safety planning for work in elevated or below-ground areas.

Complete the fields and click Save . Once the Area header has been completed and saved a sub navigation will appear to allow additional entities to be assigned.
