WIP Overview

Work In Progress (WIP) Module consolidates projected and earned values for ongoing Tasks—providing finance and operations teams a forward view of revenue and cost exposure before invoicing completes, using Task WIP Grid calculations and period Generate WIP Costs runs.

Focus below: Task WIP Grid, WIP Cost Generation and WIP Cost Collection Templates. Each feature drives consistent aggregation using Sales Invoicing Rule Groups.

Typical usage:

  • Generate WIP costs for a period to preview margin and revenue impact.
  • Drill into Task WIP Grid to identify high variance / ageing work.
  • Tune WIP Cost Collection Templates to align cost types and rule groups.

Outcomes & value: Earlier visibility of financial performance; proactive margin management; reduced period‑end surprises through aligned Rule Groups and tuned WIP Cost Collection Templates.

Icon Feature Description
Task WIP Grid

The Task WIP Grid provides a comprehensive overview of all Tasks with Work In Progress (WIP) cost breakdowns, enabling users to monitor and manage ongoing work and associated costs in detail.

By default, the grid displays WIP-related data, but you can toggle to show Task-related data as needed. This flexibility helps users track both financial and operational progress across tasks.

Generate WIP Costs

WIP Task Cost information must be generated. This is done using a date range and WIP Tasks Collection Templates.

Costs are summed by cost type, these consist of previews of both Cost and Sales Invoices and generated revenue of Cost and Sales Invoices.

WIP Cost Collection Template WIP Task Templates collect both Tasks and Sales Invoice Rule Groups together for use in the WIP Grids and Reports.
