Rates Register

Rates Registers are used to record details of any Business Rates paid against Buildings or Locations.

The Purchase Key licence dependency for this specific element of the system has been removed and is now included as standard in the core MRI Evolution product the feature has been turned on for all systems by default.

Note: Other restrictions, such as User licence type restrictions and / or any restrictions to underlying functionality that is dependent upon Purchase Key licences will remain in place.

Facilities > Property and Estates > Rates Register

The link will open the Rates Register grid. It is a grid view which can be searched, sorted and customised as normal.

To add a new Rates Register click New , to edit an existing Rates Register click Edit . A pop up window will appear which will allow the creation or amendment of a Rates Register.

Rate Information
Rate Reference	The Rate's reference.
Rate Description	The Rate's description.
Building	From the drop down select the Building - for more information see Building Register. Available from 7.0.0.0 It is possible to display the relevant parent/child relationship data in this auto-complete by enabling the Enable Hierarchical Auto-Completes option in the General Preferences page.
Location	From the drop down select the Location - for more information see Location Register. Available from 7.0.0.0 It is possible to display the relevant parent/child relationship data in this auto-complete by enabling the Enable Hierarchical Auto-Completes option in the General Preferences page.
Rate Details
Date From	The date the Rate is valid from.
Date To	The date the Rate is valid to.
Rate Amount	The annual business rates charge for this property, typically payable to the local authority in 10 monthly installments. Calculated by multiplying the Rateable Value by the Uniform Business Rate (UBR) multiplier set by government, then applying any applicable reliefs or discounts. Essential for budgeting property operating costs and forecasting annual expenditure. May be adjusted during the rating year if the property undergoes structural changes or if appeals against the Rateable Value succeed. Used for financial planning and calculating total cost of property occupation.
Rateable Value	The rateable value - All non-domestic properties have a Rateable Value. This figure is based on a professional assessment of the annual rent of a property, if it was available to let on the open market at a fixed valuation date.
Rating Authority Information
Local Authority	The council or municipality responsible for collecting business rates for this property (e.g., "Westminster City Council", "Manchester City Council"). While the Valuation Office Agency sets rateable values, the local authority bills and collects the rates. Essential contact for payment arrangements, rate relief applications, and queries about business rates bills. Different from the Valuation Office Agency which handles rateable value appeals. Use this to route rate queries to the correct authority and track which councils you pay rates to across your property portfolio.
LA Rates Advisor	The name of the local authority Rates advisor.
Address	The address of the local authority.
Telephone Number	The telephone number of the local authority.
Postcode	The postcode of the local authority.
Country	From the drop down select Country for the local authority - for more information see Countries. Available from 4.4.5
Notes	Notes regarding the Rate.

Complete the fields and click Save . Once the Rates Register header has been completed and saved a sub navigation will appear to allow additional entities to be assigned / created.

If Rates are due to be paid on a schedule the schedule can be recorded here.
