Asset Classifications

Asset Classifications define standardized asset types with terminology, relationships, and rules for the Asset Register.

Configure classification codes, descriptions, SFG20 and Uniclass references, specify which classifications apply to each building, define parent-child asset relationships, and identify compulsory assets. Use classifications to cleanse existing asset data, standardize naming, control asset types by building, and automatically create missing compulsory assets.

Multiple classifications with identical System, Tag, Type, and Name combinations are permitted if Classification Level differs.

Settings > Assets > Asset Classifications

The link will open the Asset Classification grid. It is a grid view which can be searched, sorted and customised as normal.

To add a new Asset Classification click New , to edit an existing Asset Classification click Edit . A pop up window will appear which will allow the creation or amendment of an Asset Classification.

Click the button to run the CL-AC002 Asset Classification Details report.

Field Name	Description
Classification	Enter an appropriate name of the Asset Classification.
Classification Code	Enter an appropriate code of the Asset Classification.
Classification Description	Enter an appropriate description of the Asset Classification.
SFG20 Ref	The SFG20 reference - This field can be used to store the relevant SFG20 maintenance code for this Classification of Asset.
Uniclass Ref	The Uniclass reference - These references are usually set when the Classification has been created during an import of COBie BIM data.
Start Date	The date the Asset Classification will be available from.
End Date	The date the Asset Classification will be available to.
Classification
Ignore System	Checking ‘Ignore system’ will allow an Asset Classification to ignore an Asset's System when verifying an Asset match. Use this option if System is not part of the hierarchy of an Asset Classification.
System	From the drop down select an appropriate Asset System for the Asset Classification.
Tag	From the drop down select an appropriate Asset Tag for the Asset Classification.
Type	From the drop down select an appropriate Asset Type for the Asset Classification.
Name	From the drop down select an appropriate Asset Name for the Asset Classification.
Element Group	Available from 6.5.0.0 From the drop down select an appropriate Element Classification Group for the Asset Classification. The drop down will be filtered to only contain Element Classification Groups with an Active state. If an Element Classification is selected first, this field will be auto populated with the Element Classification Group associated with the selected Element Classification.
Element Class	Available from 6.5.0.0 From the drop down select an appropriate Element Classification for the Asset Classification. The drop down will be filtered to only contain Element Classifications with an Active state. If an Element Classification Group has been selected, the drop down will also be filtered to only contain Element Classifications associated with the selected Element Classification Group.
Default Behaviour
Classification Level	From the drop down select the Classification level. This is used to determine if the Asset should be part of an Asset Association or Grouping Single Asset – select if Assets with this Classification are standard standalone physical Assets Group Asset – select if Assets with this Classification should be part of an Asset group e.g. they should belong to another Asset or have Asset sub groups Parent Asset – select if Assets with this Classification should be Parent Assets to others Child Asset – select if Assets with this Classification should be a child of another Asset
Compulsory	Check the box if at least one Asset with this Classification must exist within the Building or Location (Use Classification Scope to set the rules for how many Assets are required)
Classification Scope	If Compulsory is checked the Classification Scope must be set Whole Building – as least one of these Assets must be in the Building Whole Location – at least one of these types of Assets must be available in the Location
Class Scope Query	Where Classification Scope is in use a query can also be utilised to further define if an Asset with the matching Classification should exist. For example, you may use the Query to specify that at least one Asset of this Classification should be in every ’Plant Room’ Location

Complete the fields and click Save . Once the Asset Classification header has been completed and saved a sub navigation will appear to allow additional entities to be created / assigned.
