System Admin Overview
System Administration is the control centre for configuring, governing and safeguarding the overall MRI Evolution platform. From here administrators define core environment settings (Databases, Servers, Caches), tune appearance & behaviour (Table Register, Stylesheets, General Preferences), manage localisation (Locales, Time Zones, Translation Sets), enforce security (Roles, Accounts, Accounts Policy), connect external services (SMTP, Exchange, Agora) and set up printing infrastructure.
What this overview covers: The table below groups the major administration areas: Environment, System Appearance & Behaviour, Region & Language, User Accounts & Security, Document Management, Integration and Printing. Each feature link opens a dedicated page with detailed steps and field definitions.
Typical administrator tasks:
- Register databases and servers; clear caches after configuration changes.
- Apply branding, Stylesheets and general preferences to deliver a consistent user experience.
- Configure table register rules (mandatory / unique fields, association allowances) to enforce data integrity.
- Set up localisation: locales, time zones, translation sets & strings for multilingual operation.
- Create & maintain roles, accounts, consent & registration policies, password and session controls.
- Define document repositories, permitted file types and attachment governance.
- Establish integrations: SMTP, Exchange sync, MRI Energy, CTI, Agora Controllers & Events.
- Monitor integration health via Agora Events and Dead Letters queues.
- Configure print redirection by installing system printers and mapping output workflows.
Outcomes & value: A stable, performant, secure platform with consistent branding, reliable integrations, compliant data structures and auditable user / document activity driven by centralised roles, policies and register rules.

| Environment | ||
Databases | The creation and configuration of a new MRI Evolution Database is done by MRI Software and your database administrator. |
Servers | The creation and configuration of a new servers done by MRI Software and your database administrator. This list of Servers can be viewed here. |
Caches | Caching is effectively the web server getting a local copy of the core rules and labels and keeping them handy. The driving force for this is that these elements don’t change very often. When they do, the web server’s cached needs to be cleared so it will retrieve an updated list. |
Data Connections | Data Connections are used for connection to third party databases. |
System Information | The System Information screen is a read only screen that provides MRI Evolution version information. |
| System Appearance & Behaviour | ||
| Application Branding |
The Application Branding feature allows administrators to customize the look and feel of the Evolution application interfaces for different system profiles. The interface is organized into three tabs—Reach, Evolution, and Connect—each with its own set of configurable branding options. Administrators can adjust icons, application names, header colours, menu tab styles, and more for each profile. A live preview panel lets you see changes instantly before saving. |

Table Register |
The MRI Evolution system is based on a large back end database. There are a wide range of functions that can be altered within the Table register; these include; how the text in the drop down menus are displayed or allowing hazards and documents to be associated. It is also the gateway to define compulsory or unique fields that are linked with each table. |
Stylesheets | Stylesheets can be used to set the look and formatting of Evolution Reach and Evolution Connect. |
General Preferences | General Preferences allow the set up of some generic system preferences. |
Message Preferences | This page contains the preferences related to the Messages function in MRI Evolution. |
Contract View Settings | As a User navigates through the system or runs queries and reports, Contract View queries are executed in order to hide the Contract related data that does not form part of the User's Contract View. Filtering out this data can have a negative impact upon performance. The Contract View Settings page allows system administrators to make changes to mitigate the impact. |
Queries | Queries are one of the key tools of data filtering. While MRI Evolution has quick search and column specific filtering on grids; queries allow a User to narrow data in other ways e.g. Show all those Tasks that are still active or assigned or all non-urgent calls logged today. |
Report Offload Behaviour | Report Offload Behaviour lets system‑heavy standard Concept Reports run in the background so the user's session stays responsive instead of being locked until completion. Use it to mark resource‑intensive reports for asynchronous execution when peak usage would otherwise be impacted. You only change the run mode flag (Standard ↔ Offloaded); you don’t edit the report’s definition here. |
| Region & Language | ||
Locales | Locales are derived from the base operating system and are used to provide basic system information. In particular the language set and text direction are key aspects. |
Time Zones | Set Time zones for use with the Time Zone Module |
Translation Sets | MRI Evolution can be configured to handle multiple languages. These are managed using the Translation Sets. |
Translation Strings | Translation Strings form the many thousands of labels from across the database. These can be altered to fit a business need. |

Terms And Conditions |
Terms and Conditions are a form of protection for MRI Software and the clients thereof against potential abuse of the software. Before Users can log in they must accept the Terms and Conditions presented to them. Once accepted, they do not have to accept them again, unless the Terms and Conditions have been updated. |
| Document Management | ||
Repositories |
The Document Management functionality within MRI Evolution operates as a dedicated point of attachment and review for all documents attached to entities such as Assets, Buildings, Locations, Suppliers, etc..... The MRI Evolution System Administrator can determine which entities may have Documents assigned. These Documents will be stored in a defined Repository either in the database, or outside of MRI Evolution. |
File Types | MRI Evolution uses the standard MS Windows (T) MIME Types to enable documents to be opened seamlessly. |
| Printing | ||
System Printer | To enable Print Redirection, System Printers need to be installed. |
Print Redirection | MRI Evolution allows automated re-direction and printing of reports and job cards within the system. |
